Commonwealth Games 2010 Theme Song : Not upto Expectations ?
A R Rahman unveiled his Commonwealth Games theme song composition yesterday which has got mixed reviews so far, however you must know what they say about A R Rahman music, that is more you hear his tune, the more you get to like it.
CWG Organising Committee's Executive Board member V K Malhotra is the first big name who was not impressed by the song and has appealed for rework on the song. "This song has fallen short of expectations. We had a expected a better anthem for the Games from a composer of Rahman's status," Malhotra said.
However, there are large number of people who are satisfied with the song and already looking for the lyrics to remember and sing it to impress others.
One of our readers wrote to us, 'Whenever something big happens, it is bound to receive different reviews as all of us different and have different needs'. Another reader named Aman wrote that 'It is not possible for great Rahman to please everybody all the time with his work, although I'm pretty happy with tune and already making an attempt to remember the song'.
Rahman unveiled the song yesterday in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her Haryana counterpart Bhupinder Singh Hooda and CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi .
"I feel honoured to get the opportunity to compose the theme song for the mega-event. It was not an easy task. I had started composing it six months ago and finished just last night," Rahman said after the launch.
It seems that Malhotra has heard too much of Waka Waka bu Shakira and was expecting something on those lines however the most talented composer of the country AR Rahman delivers his masterpiece in his own style which would please many except Malhotra.

this song is not a match of shakira's waka waka
Thats what ar is.
But i also thought more English lyrics could have been added in order to have a global face....
u a**ols dn kno to njoy songs...
yeah it wud hav been grt if mor english ws used but d song is nice......
if u dn lik it..den u compose n hear 4 urself...huh...
but as i heard a couple of times more i felt it is another nice song from ar
it might not be like the other hit songs of ar but on a whole itz good
worth listening
As per my experience of listening this one for the first time I was expecting great peak after soft start and also great chorus in background.
Well, for now I didn't like it. Still one factor may able change my opinion, and thats the quality of song... I guess, it may be possible of having low quality song uploaded on net.
And if this is the final and the best quality then... I don't know I still can't believe it that its AR... He always tend to do best... He is literally GOD of music in my oppinion, a real master... But I can't say the same for this one... I hope there must be something more or another version of this song.
I say this song is better than shit song waka waka.
Waka waka was like kaw kaw sung by crow singer Shakira
Listen to those songs 4 to 5 times then you will like it.
And if you are A.R.Rahman hater then I am sorry no way you will like this song.
Because for A.R.Rahman haters anything he composes will be bad only.
Ye aisa hona chahioye tha ki sunte hi dil ko chhu jaaye...but hopeless .
Rehman we really expect more than than this....
original waka waka link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itvdhr04hx0 .if u wanna give credit to someone for waka waka,do it to these girls.dont give it to the copycat shakira who even got into a copyright infringement lawsuit.
so stop comparing the copycat shakira who even got into copyright infringement to our maestro.hear it a couple more times and you ll start liking it.
Someone was pointing on this line "India Bula liya" . According to me this is what "Swagath" means.AR has composed this song in such a way that it starts with a "Welcome/Swagath". He is the maestro.
I bet , this is the next hit.
u listen the song again 'n again....
u'll slowly get into the music...
those who are criticising Arr should answer one question. Name a rahman songs which you liked instantly? the "honeymoon " period of lets go may be long buts sure this song is going to stay for ever(like an everlasting marriage!)
Now even a deaf can post/ blog/ report that lets go is not up to mark- every one before commenting on lets go ask a question to yourself am i listening to rahmans songs before? if no is the answer then wait for few more days, listen for few times more then comment
latest divine comedy- Arr was asked to tweak his composition by cwg executive commitee.
I'm a huge Rahman fan and truly believe that if he had devoted atleast a week for this one, he could have come up with something much better.
I truly feel depressed that this song will be showcasing India and Rahman himself in front of the whole world during the CWGs.
A song specially in a foreign language should atleast be catchy, so that who ever is hearing it will be interested. Sadly this is not.
I would gladly have Chale Chalo (from Lagaan) as the CWG theme song than this one.. And thats just an example from already existing songs..... Sorry Rahman.. U've really failed us on this one..
This was your one chance to let the whole world listen to your magic, ur skill, ur talent. Sadly u dint deliver.
The song is not in mood with a sports theme song. There are certain moods for each event. U cannot play the greatest funeral song ever for a marriage. Similarly, this doesnt sound anything like a sports song. I dont know what it sounds like, but its definitely not sports. Maybe for rakshabandan, but not for a high voltage sporting event.
Again.. We are proud that u r an Indian. But the song $***$.
