Khichdi Movie Review, Rating

Watching the big screen version you realise why that ambition was skewed from the start. For all its tricks as a TRPpusher on the small screen, Khichdi: The Movie unfolds too much like a TV serial.
For those who came in late, Khichdi is about the Parekhs — a funny family of Gujaratis who seem to have a combined brain the size of a pea. In the film, heroine Hansa’s (Supriya Pathak) brother Himanshu (JD Majethia) has a loony brainwave. He wants to have a memorable love story of his own. He finds the right girl by way of the friendly neighbourhood Parminder.
A regular marriage wouldn’t let the guy have his ‘ memorable love story’. Which in turn means the script gets the scope for a madcap twist as Himanshu backtracks on the eve of his wedding.
The movie essentially follows the template set by the serial: keep piling a series of gags — some funny, most of them too silly to be funny — and weave a sort of narrative in between.
