Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) offers a number of courses in various disciplines. The university is committed in providing education in Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy, Yoga and in Nursing. The university has been approved by University Grant Commission (UGC), but is not funded by UGC grants.

It is a self-contained, state university which has about 276 colleges affiliated to it in the state, conducting similar courses, in order to achieve uniform standards in academics and administration.
