Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2010 Medal Tally : Renu Bala Chanu wins Gold in weightlifting



Nineteenth Commonwealth Games Host Nation India is doing pretty well as India's Renu Bala won 9th Gold Medal for India as she retained her Commonwealth Games 58kg women's weightlifting title today.

On the top of it, Bala even set a new Commonwealth record by lifting 90kg in the snatch before piling on the pressure with a clean and jerk of 107 for a 197kg total. Australia's Sean Lee, claimed silver with a total of 192kg where as English player Zoe Smith won bronze with a 188kg.

In shooting, Omkar Singh bagged the 8th gold medal by winning gold in the 50m pistol event, while Gagan Narang pipped Abhinav Bindra to win gold in the 10m Air Rifle event and shooter Anisa Sayeed won gold in 25m women's pistol event at the Karni Singh Shooting Range.

Australia is still at top position with 14 Gold Medals, 12 Silver and 7 Bronze making it total of 33 medals followed by India on the second postion with 10 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals. India has won total number of 20 Medals. England on third with 5 Golds, followed by Malaysia, South Africa, Singapore, Canada and Scotland with 5,3,2,2 and 1 respectively.
