We are Family Movie Review, Rating

Audience have been waiting for a good family time movie which can be seen by the family together to celebrate the weekend and I guess the quest ends here. After a long time, someone has dared to make a family movie and that too has been made quite well.


We Are Family is the story of a family where Maya (Kajol) is the perfect mother of three, Anjali, 6, Aleya, 13 and Ankush,10, married and divorced from her husband Aman (Arjun Rampal). Maya’s life revolves round her three children and despite her divorce, she ensures that everything runs smoothly in her house under her care and they continue to stay as a happy family until Aman introduces her girlfriend Shreya (Kareena Kapoor) to the family.

The concept is though taken up from a Hollywood hit ‘Stepmom,’ but involves elements of freshness and nice comedy too. Debutant director Siddharth P. Malhotra has done a good job to depict the family drama with light notes and decent comic and emotional scenes.

Performance of cast is good and deserves an applaud is some of the scenes. Kajol, as usual, is at her best and makes a rocking appearance on the screen in the same film. Kareena Kapoor who has played the role of Shreya has also done an excellent job. Shreya is introduced to the family as the girl friend of Kajol’s divorced husband and brings her to the same house. The film is all about how Shreya is to take over Kajol when she is fatally ill.

This is something which made with the old subject however portrayed to the audience in an innovative way in a serious-comedy avatar where some scenes will make you laugh and in some you would want to cry. Overall, complete family time masala movie.
