Sathyabama University postpones exams due to Jal Cyclone
Sathyabama University, Chennai has postponed the exams which were scheduled to take place on 8th November to 21st November, 2010 due to the severe 'Jal' cyclone approaching towards Chennai. Both forenoon and afternoon exams have been delayed and would now be conducted on 21st of this month.
Cyclone 'Jal' laid centred 250 km east-southeast of Chennai and 300 km of south-southeast of Nellore. India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a statement which says that the cyclone is moving west-northwest-wards, and is expected to hit the land between Chennai and Nellore by Sunday evening or night, accompanied with wind speed between 80 kmph to 100 kmph.
'Jal' which was marked as very severe cyclone has lost much of its strength over the Bay of Bengal and is now being treated only as a 'severe cyclone', however its still powerful to cause much damages.
