Followers share Bakrid SMS, Greetings to celebrate Eid ul Zuha 2010

One more festivals knocking on the door in the country which is also called the 'Land of Festivals' as just when people were done celebrating Diwali, here comes the Bakrid also known as eid-ul-zuha. Bakrid is devoted to the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma’il) as an act of obedience to God, now the Muslims celebrate this festival through the goats and they keep the baby of the goat and take care of him just like their own child and afterwords they raise it to god as an act of obedience.


On this day, the meat is divided into three equal parts to be distributed as the family retains one third of the share, another third is given to relatives, friends and neighbors, and the other third is given to the poor & needy, however it is going to be an expensive affair for city Muslims this year as the rates of sheep and goats meant for sacrifice on the auspicious day as well as butcher charges for their cleaning have gone up by 30-40 per cent in markets across the city.
