Docomo unveils 3G services at competitive price
Tata Teleservices and its India partner Japan’s DoCoMo on Tuesday announced a call tariff of less than a paise — 0.66 paise per second, for its 3G services.
Soon after the auction of 3G spectrum held in May this year, mobile operators had said that 3G mobile services would not come cheap as the bids for spectrum ( radio waves) came at a high price for operators. They had paid over Rs 68,000 crore to the Centre for the radio waves.
With nearly 80 million subscribers, in both mobile and landline segments, the company is pinning hopes of generating revenues on 3G mobile as well as data services in the designated circles.
For 3G data services on large screens like computers and laptops, Tata Tele has announced a package of Rs 2,000 for 15 GB data usage at a speed of 21.1 Mbps. However, usage beyond 15 GB would be free but would come at a speed of 256 kbps.
The firm has chalked out different tariff packages and plans for post- paid and prepaid 3G services. These are priced at between Rs 350 and Rs 2,000. This includes data usage and monthly minutes.
A monthly tariff package of Rs 2,000 would give the subscriber 5,000 minutes voice calls along with data usage of up to 2GB per month. The firm said the pulse rate would be ‘per second’ and subscribers would be charged only for the number of seconds used.
