Celebrate Chhath Puja with SMS & Wishes for Loved Ones

Chhath Puja, the three-day festival, is celebrated on the sixth day of `Shukla Paksh' in the Kartik month and associated with fasting and praying. Huge rush of devotees witnessed at banks of the Ganga and other Canals yesterday. Married women and middle-aged men lead preparations and observe fasts. People will make an offering to the setting sun Friday and the rising sun Saturday to mark the end of Chhath.

Today is the the second day of the `Chhath Puja' and the devotees would give `Argha' to the setting Sun while the rising sun would again be worshipped tomorrow. The devotees lighted `diyas' near the idols of `Chhati Mata' at different Ganga ghats. After conducting the puja, devotees broke the fast with `prasad'.


Chhath Puja is celebrated mainly in Bihar and eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Durng Chhath Puja fest Prashad is distributed to the sun in the morning as well as evening, and also involves standing in water for long time.
