Kannada (Karnataka) Rajyotsava Awards Winners 2010 to be awarded today



On the ocassion of Kerala Piravi which is celebrated on 1st November, the winners of the Rajyotsava Awards 2010 would be awarded to the eminent personalities from the various fields of the nation. Medal winners of CWG 2010, prominent journalists and service line experts to be awarded today with the prestigious awards.

Total number of 162 deserving people have been selected by the Karnataka government for the Rajyotsava awards 2010. Wildlife biologist Ullas Karanth, gold medal winners 2010 Commonwealth Games A. Ashwini and Ashwini Ponnappa, poet B.R. Lakshman Rao, singer B.R. Chaya, ophthalmologist Bhujanga Shetty, psychiatrist C.R. Chandrashekhar, film producer K.V. Gupta, artist M.S. Murthy and three organisations are chosen one in 25 categories for these awards.

Due to the flood in North Karnataka, these awards were not conducted last year however personlaities from 2009 would also be awarded today as the count of awards have gone up from 75 to 162 which means these are the wards fro two year and not just one. B S Yeddyurappa will present the awards today at Ravindra Kalakshetra at 6 pm.

The winners will get Rs 1 lakh in cash, gold medal weighing 20gm, a memento, a citation, a shawl and more than anything the honor and respect for making the handful contribution to make the nation proud.

    should be given to the MLA's who sell themselves to the opposition party :)
  • it's really good to know that Infosys CEO and Managing Director Kris Gopalakrishnan are among the 162 people who have been accorded with Karnataka Rajyotsava award by the Karnataka government for the year 2010.

    The Rajyotsava day is celebrated with great joy and vigor all over the state of Karnataka.
