Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport : Superfast, Hand crafted and costs a mere Rs 16 cr
The fastest, most powerful and most expensive street- legal car in the world was unveiled at a glittering launch in the Capital on Thursday. With a top speed of 407 kmph and an acceleration of 0- 100 kmph in 2.7 seconds, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport combines state- of- the- art technology and the beauty of a convertible but comes with a Rs. 16-crore price tag, making it the most expensive car in the Indian market.
Assembled entirely by hand at the company’s main production facility in Molsheim, Alsace (France), the Veyron will be limited to a maximum of 150 units, of which the first 40 have already gone to registered Bugatti customers around the world.
Satya Bagla, managing director of Exclusive Motors, the company that has brought the supercar to the country, sounded bullish on the future of the supercar market in the country. “ India is an emerging market for super- premium luxury cars,” Bagla said at the Grand Sport launch.
A special feature added to this Bugatti is the removable roof. With the roof off, the car can reach a top speed of 360 kmph. In case it rains, an innovative folding roof stored in the luggage compartment can open up like an umbrella at any time.
When this folding roof is in place, the car can travel at up to 130 kmph.
“ Bugatti has been doing well in the US, Europe and the Middle East. We’re seeing India as an emerging market for us,” said Julius Kruta of Bugatti Automobiles SAS. Apart from India, Kruta added, Brazil and China are the other potential markets.
The car can be fitted according to each buyer’s requirements. “ Don’t think of it as just a car. It’s a piece of art,” Kruta said.
