Less than 20% technical graduates suitable for IT Jobs
An assessment conducted by a company called Aspiring Minds on more than 40,000 technical graduates states that just above 80 percent of the fresh technical graduates require additional training to be eligible for any job in the IT/ITeS sector which means that only less than 20% grads are ready to join the oraganization after the college.
The employability study was based on results of a computer based test called AMCAT conducted for engineering and Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) students (in final year) across 12 states in the country.
This test contained question like any competitive exams and divided to analyse a student eligibility in English communication, quantitative skills, problem-solving skills and computer science and programming skills.
"Employability with regard to IT services companies is 17.84 per cent," the study found.
The results are interesting as it says only 17.84 per cent are good enough to serve the IT services companies where as it goes further down to to 4.22 per cent when it comes to IT product companies.
KPOs are not far behind as only 9.47 per cent technical graduates found employable where as BPOs and Technical Support jobs scores maximum as 38.23 per cent and 25.88 percent grads found suitable respectively.
