CWG 2010 Update : India beats Pakistan in hockey match (7-4)
Indian hockey team didn't send the fans home disappointed as they have cruised into semi-finals after beating rivals (7-4) in a Commonwealth Games men's Pool A. Unlike other contests in CWG, this one was completely sold out where 19,000 spectators were cheering for a sport other than cricket in the open-air Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. Infact, all the tickets were sold out several weeks ago for this exciting match.
India took off to a 4-0 lead within the first 20 minutes and crowd as behind the team in every charge. The most eligible bachelor of country also graced the contest. Rahul and Sonia Gandhi waved to the crowds in an unusually relaxed public appearance during the half time.
Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of the Games' organising committee, was also in the ground, pleased perhaps to see one enthusiastic full-house at a sporting spectacle that has often been played out in front of empty and silent stands. A fifth goal early in the second half took India to 5-2 and well on the way to crowning the evening with a 7-4 final score.
Anything between these two nations is always exiting and deemed to get the attention whether it Cricket, Hockey or just talks. Meanwhile, India's golden time in Commonwealth Games continues and getting stronger as we deliver our best ever performance in CWG 2010.
