Singer Swarnalatha sudden death is a great loss



South Indian film industry got the shocking news of renowned singer Swarnalatha death on Sunday. 37-Year-Old South Indian playback singer and National award winner Swarnalatha died at a private hospital here today following lung infection.

Born in Kerala’s Palakkad district, Ms. Swarnalatha had sung in various languages including Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam since 1989.

She won the 1995 National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her song ‘Porale Ponnuthayi’, composed by A R Rahman, in the Tamil film ‘Karuththamma’.

Swarnalatha started her singing in 1989 with many music directors. She has lent her voice to hit songs from films including Thalapathi (1991), Thevar Magan (1992), Karuththamma (1994), Bombay (1995), Indian (1996), and Minsaara Kanavu (1997).

It is a great loss not only to South Indian Film Industry but to whole Indian Music.

We condoles the sudden demise of the singer and prays "May God rest her soul in peace".
