  • Its not the national language of India.
In fact, India does not have a national language.
Recently, Gujarat High Court reiterated that India does not have a national language:

Who told you that Hindi is the national language of India? Nowhere in constitution is it written that way.

Hindi is one of the official language of India which is spoken in some states in North India. Hindi is an alien language for kannadigas, tamilians etc. Giving undue importance to hindi while neglecting other 22 official languages causes dissatisfaction in non hindi speakers

  • how can you say that Hindi is not national language? it is
  • @ mystery guest.

You have the answer yourself. Hindi is being given "undue" importance which is known as in other words prejudice or bias or partiality or preferential treatment. and you have answered another question of yours. It is not the national language but one of the 22 national languages.

    @ Akshaya
There is a difference between national language and official language.
Get dat first and den comment. I guess no country in the world can have 22 national languages...
Hindi is just one of the official languages...
  • Hindi is not the national language of India it's just another language of India like the other languages and hence this undue importance to it is not in the spirit of India i.e " Unity in Diversity ". The Gujarat High court has also upheld the same.
