Ayodhya Babri Masjid Verdict Today after 3 pm, Expect the Unexpected



After a long delay and deferment, the verdict on Babri Masjid Ayodhya case is set to roll out after 3 pm today by Allahbad High Court. The verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute will decide whether the 2.7 acres of disputed land on which the Babri Masjid stood before it was demolished on December 6, 1992, belongs to the Sunni Central Waqf Board or to the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi have apealed the nation to maintain the peace and accept the verdict by the court however tension prevails through out the nation as this is the most sensitive case of the nation. Sonia Gandhi said, “ Emotional integrity is the biggest strength of Indian society,”

States across the country beefed up security. Six districts of Jharkhand have been put on high alert. Additional forces have been deployed in Yamunanagar, Mewat, Panipat, Gurgaon and Karnal districts of Haryana and Batala and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab. Kolkata police commissioner Gautam Chakrabarty said 18 of 48 polices stations had been identified as sensitive.

In Uttar Pradesh, which has a history of riots over the Ram Janmabhoomi- Babri Masjid dispute, chief minister Mayawati has taken steps to avoid any recurrence of unpleasant incidents.

More than 60,000 members of Rapid Action Force (RAF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Provincial Armed Constabulary have been deployed in Ayodhya and Faizabad.

Gujarat, Karnataka and Maharashtra state governments have also beefed up security throughout the respective state to maintain the peace.
